The "kukka hippo parasol," a children's sun and rain umbrella, is now available. It was jointly developed by Ogawa Co., Ltd., an umbrella manufacturer with over 80 years of history, and Epochal®, a Japanese UV protection wear brand.

This umbrella was developed to serve as a "portable shade" for children, who have a harder time regulating their body temperature than adults, helping to prevent heatstroke during commutes or outings.

Even though it's a children's umbrella, it achieves high sun protection through special processing. The fabric's weave is filled with a coating, using a light-blocking fabric with over 99.9% light-blocking rate. It also uses heat-shielding fabric with a heat-shielding index of 35% or higher, recognized for its heat-reducing effect. Furthermore, it's water-repellent treated, making it a convenient sun and rain umbrella for children who might find it difficult to switch between the two.

By aligning one's gaze with the "Epochal Line" on the shaft, UV rays can be efficiently blocked. The fabric also features illustrations that reflect light at night, and the name band is wide and easy to fasten, packed with features designed for children's ease of use. A foldable type, convenient for carrying, is also available.
