【"playing REGAL" Overview】
As a special project commemorating the 60th anniversary of the REGAL brand's arrival in Japan, we have collaborated with six creators active in various fields, alongside the magazines "Pen" and "Figaro Japon", to create special concept shoes that push the boundaries of leather footwear. These shoes express the potential of REGAL as it celebrates its milestone 60th anniversary, drawing on the sensibilities that drive music, fashion, and comedy. Pen/Figaro also participated in this collaboration, co-creating a diverse range of footwear possibilities.
The six resulting leather shoes can be viewed freely by anyone on our website, including concept videos. They will also be on limited-time display at Daikanyama T-Site from October 18th, offering a chance to see them in person. REGAL plans to undertake various initiatives as part of a project to expand the brand's possibilities, starting with the announcement of these concept shoes through this collaboration.
With its 60th anniversary, REGAL's continued pursuit of brand potential is certainly worth watching.

【Special Collaboration Leather Shoes】
■ Hama Okamoto (OKAMOTO’S) × REGAL = PLAYFUL
Playful details are incorporated throughout, such as a hidden compartment in the heel and Velcro fasteners on the instep.
Features: These shoes are designed like spy gear. The heel section has a rotating compartment for storing small items like picks.
The instep appears to be a traditional lace-up design, but it uses Velcro fasteners for ease of wear.

・Profile of Hama Okamoto
Born in Tokyo in 1991. Began his band activities as a bassist in junior high school. Joined OKAMOTO’S, formed by his junior high classmates, in 2009. This year, he has released numerous new songs, starting with "Young Japanese," followed by "Complication," "M," "Band Music," and "Picasso." On September 29th, he released the NEW ALBUM "KNO WHERE," his first in two years and eight months. In support of the album, he will embark on a 16-city, 18-performance national live tour "OKAMOTO'S LIVE TOUR 2021 'KNO WHERE'", kicking off on October 8th at KT Zepp Yokohama.

■ Kafka Shibahashi × REGAL = FREE
To free oneself from the heel chafing that Kafka often experiences, these shoes are designed with no heel at all.
Features: The heel section is detachable, allowing the shoes to be transformed freely between low-heel and high-heel styles. For example, one could wear low heels to a wedding venue and then attach high heels for the reception, liberating women from the common dilemma of needing to carry a second pair of shoes.

“I thought it was quite an eccentric idea, so I couldn't imagine what kind of shoes would result until I saw the finished product. I never expected them to be so stylish and comfortable!”

・Profile of Kafka Shibahashi
Born in Mexico. Began playing drums at age 14 while living in Argentina. Debuted with her CD "Aisuru Kakugo" in 2012, performing as a drummer and vocalist. She is also active as an actress. Since 2018, she has organized the rhythm event "el tempo."

■ Cookie! × REGAL = TRANSFORM
These are shoes that truly transform, revealing not just one, but a multitude of forms.
Features: By adding parts via zippers, these dream shoes can transform in five stages, from sandals to low-cut shoes, boots, long boots, and even thigh-high boots. Not content with this, Cookie! also designed ear coverings to protect sensitive ears. It takes three people about an hour to put them all on.

“We’ve created shoes that require an hour and multiple people to put on. Initially, I wanted to make something that could be commercialized, but I think that might be a bit difficult, so I hope people will enjoy just looking at them.”

・Profile of Cookie!
Born in Shiga Prefecture in 1976. Formed the comedy duo "Wild Bomb" with his childhood friend Rossy in 1994. He is also active as an artist through painting and music. His YouTube channel, "Kukki! no Kokoro wo Komete" (With All My Heart), is also popular.

■ emma × REGAL = STYLE-UPDATE
This signifies updating the style (tradition) of leather shoes with innovation, to match one's favorite look.
Features: The soles are designed to be approximately 5cm thicker than usual, creating a bold, voluminous silhouette. To balance the overall proportions, which might otherwise be off with the original upper design, a plump silhouette is proposed by adding thickness to the toe area as well. A new last was created from scratch.

“Influenced by my parents, who loved REGAL, I had always admired REGAL loafers. I was so happy to have this collaboration opportunity.”

・Profile of emma
Born in Hokkaido. Shortly after her debut, she graced the covers of numerous magazines, quickly becoming a popular model. From 2014, she worked as an exclusive model for the magazine "ViVi." In 2020, she played the leading role in the drama and film "Yogai Ningen Bella."

■ Kento Nagayama × REGAL = CUSTOM CAR
This expresses the idea that leather shoes, like cars, can be customized to one's own preference.
Features: The heel section uses scarlet leather, inspired by taillights. The "takeyari" (bamboo spear) muffler is detachable. Furthermore, the tread pattern of TOYO TIRES' sports tires, which Nagayama favors, is recreated. The texture of sports tires is faithfully reproduced by wrapping the sides with natural rubber.

・Profile of Kento Nagayama
Born in Tokyo in 1989. Debuted as an actor in 2007. He will appear in the drama series "Kotodama" (TV Asahi series) starting in October. The film "Toge: Saigo no Samurai" is scheduled for release in 2022.

■ Wakana Aoi × REGAL = LADY
These are shoes that can be worn casually every day, yet are also perfect for dressing up and stepping out, allowing a woman to take her first stride into adulthood.
Features: This is an original shoe created by combining the best of wingtips and ghillie sandals. To ensure comfort even when worn barefoot, it features a highly cushioned insole and soft leather lining.

・Profile of Wakana Aoi
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1998. Debuted as an actress in 2009. In 2017, she was chosen to play the lead role in the NHK serial morning drama "Waro-tenka." Starting in February 2022, she is scheduled to appear in the stage play "Fuyu no Raion" (Winter Lion) at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Playhouse.
