October 10th is Eye Care Day: One in two women aged 20-40 didn't know some eye drops can be used with colored contact lenses and others cannot! The top concern for contact lens wearers is dry eyes.

Tearal, an eye care beauty brand developed by I-ne Inc. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka), conducted a survey on the actual conditions of contact lens wear and eye drop usage among 316 individuals aged 20-40, in anticipation of Eye Care Day on October 10th.

The top symptom of discomfort when wearing contact lenses was "dry eyes," followed by "foreign body sensation (grittiness, stinging)" and "blurry vision."

To the question, "When wearing contact lenses, have you experienced any of the following eye discomforts?"
79% responded "my eyes feel dry," making it the most common symptom.
Following this, 56% reported "a foreign body sensation in the eyes (grittiness, stinging)" and 41% reported "blurry vision." When analyzed by age group, women in their 20s reported experiencing dry eyes more frequently, with 88% indicating "my eyes feel dry" while wearing contact lenses.

To the question, "Have you used eye drops to alleviate discomfort while wearing contact lenses?" 87% responded "yes." By age group, women in their 20s had the highest rate at 93%, followed by women in their 40s at 87%, and women in their 30s at 81%.

 

■ One in two people are unaware that some eye drops can be used with colored contact lenses while others cannot.
To the question, "Are you aware that some eye drops can be used with colored contact lenses while others cannot?" 54% responded "I was not aware." By age group, women in their 20s had the highest rate at 58%, followed by women in their 40s at 56%, and women in their 30s at 48%.
