A new cottage equipped with an authentic stone oven and fireplace grill for enjoying wood fires has opened at the campsite "Kita-Karizawa Sweet Grass."

"Kita-Karizawa Sweet Grass" boasts over 40 unique cottages and cabins spread across a vast site. It has breathed new life into the outdoor industry, notably by pioneering the winter camping boom with the installation of wood-burning stoves in all its accommodations.

The newly opened accommodations are two cottages: "Ishigama Cottage MUGI" and "Danro Grill Cottage Gourmand." Each features a stone oven or fireplace grill, created in collaboration with "Masuda Renga," a long-established manufacturer of brick stone ovens that also produces professional pizza ovens and wood grills, allowing even beginners to enjoy authentic cooking.

The fuel for all these is "firewood" produced by the company itself. "Kitamokku," the operator of "Kita-Karizawa Sweet Grass," has acquired 240 hectares of forest to promote a lifestyle centered around wood fires. They have established an in-house system for producing lumber, furniture materials, and firewood. These two cottages embody the "ideal wood-fired lifestyle," serving as a model for a sustainable firewood cycle that benefits the local community and a concrete proposal for a rich relationship with the mountains.

The interiors, filled with the scent of conifers, lavishly use larch wood grown in the Asama Plateau. Each piece of wood is harvested from the mountains and processed according to its properties, with the company's own lumber also used for furniture.

Both new cottages can accommodate up to 10 people, making them ideal not only for short trips but also for various stays, such as family meals with a private chef.

All necessary camping equipment is provided in the cottages, and guests can arrive by car. At "Kita-Karizawa Sweet Grass," where you can easily experience camping even in the post-COVID era, immerse yourself in the time spent with wood and fire.
