Scale Approximately Doubled in Renovation
The "Non-Schengen Area Crown Lounge," operated by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, has reopened after renovation.
The lounge is located between Gates E and F at Schiphol Airport, where a personal lounge assistant warmly welcomes guests upon arrival.
The convenience of simply scanning your boarding pass on a dedicated machine to access the lounge is also a major draw.
The number of seats has approximately doubled compared to before the renovation. The lounge spans 6,800 square meters and offers around 1,000 seats. Additionally, the adjacent paid "Blue Bar" and "Restaurant Blue" provide about 200 seats, offering the same high-quality service as the lounge.
The concept given to the lounge for this renovation is "Dutch Landscapes." In collaboration with the architectural firm Concrete, KLM has designed five "Dutch Landscapes." This lounge is composed of five areas inspired by these themes.
The Polder: Area for WorkMosaic patterns created with various shades of green. The carpet evokes the vast pastures of the Dutch polders. This is an area where you can work in a relaxed atmosphere. The 110-meter LED light wall is inspired by the Dutch sky, with lighting that changes to express everything from sunrise to a beautiful sunset depending on the time of day.
The City: Area for Food and DrinksBuffet Corner: An area where you can enjoy food and drinks amidst a vibrant cityscape. Guests can savor freshly prepared dishes cooked on-site, enjoy the Heineken bar specially designed by Heineken, and a coffee bar with a resident barista. The concept of stylish, high-quality, and fresh seasonal ingredients and beverages is proposed by Vermaat, KLM's catering company.
The Sea: Relaxation AreaHere, we offer everything guests need to recharge during their travels. This area features 20 free shower rooms, which can be booked in advance at the lounge's self-service kiosk. The paid sleeping cabins, with their comfortable and functional interiors, offer privacy, tranquility, and excellent comfort, costing 12,400 Flying Blue miles or €49.50 for a 3-hour stay. They are ideal for layovers or to refresh after a long journey. In the future, the showers and sleeping cabins will be equipped with a digital system using QR codes for booking.
The Dutch Mountain: Entertainment AreaThe Dutch Mountain, with its striking design.
It offers users various working and entertainment options, from a TV room to a DJ stand for special events. Dutch design and historical KLM materials are also on display.

The Sky: Area for the Paid Restaurant and Bar "Blue by KLM"Located on the second floor, this is a special area. In response to strong guest demand, KLM has installed a terrace offering beautiful views of Schiphol Airport in a luxurious setting. The "Blue by KLM" restaurant and adjacent bar offer food and a wide selection of drinks for a fee. The menu at "Blue by KLM" is curated by Joris Bijdendijk, the Michelin-starred chef of RIJKS®, the restaurant at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. "Blue by KLM" provides an exceptional culinary experience tailored to each guest's schedule and needs.
This renovation reflects KLM Royal Dutch Airlines' commitment to comfort, customer focus, and innovation. It might even be worth planning your trip around the pleasure of spending time here.
