To contribute to local economies through music live events, KDDI will stream "Ongaku to Ikou by au 5G LIVE" on March 27 and 31, 2022. UNISON SQUARE GARDEN will perform in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture, and MAN WITH A MISSION in Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture.

Three years into the COVID-19 pandemic, with continuous cancellations of large-scale events, "streaming live" has become a new, established format for music events. 5G is further enhancing this unprecedented entertainment experience by leveraging its advantage of allowing anyone to participate from anywhere.

In this context, KDDI is holding "Ongaku to Ikou by au 5G LIVE" on March 27 and 31, 2022, with the theme "Special Music Live Events in Wonderful Places Across Japan."

As the decline in tourism due to the pandemic has significantly impacted economies nationwide, this initiative aims to increase awareness of each region's charm. Artists will perform at symbolic locations, and videos will also be released showcasing recommended spots and gourmet food before and after the live performances.

On March 27, UNISON SQUARE GARDEN will deliver a powerful performance themed "Future" at the "Gifu Kakamigahara Aerospace Museum," evoking a sense of exploring the unknown. Comedian Muneto Ashizawa will serve as navigator, introducing recommended spots such as the "Minosuke" brand of local strawberries and one of the world's largest freshwater aquariums.

Furthermore, on March 31, MAN WITH A MISSION, who has been actively involved in reconstruction support, will perform an acoustic live set—exclusive to this event—at the "Kiseki no Ipponmatsu Hall" in Rikuzentakata City, themed "With Thoughts for Reconstruction." The event will also highlight the evolving "Rikuzentakata of Today," including the opening of an agricultural theme park and demonstration tests for electric buses.

Artists imbue their performances with inspiration drawn from the host locations, while music fans can immerse themselves in a realistic live experience from home, all while feeling the pulse of the region. This offers a welcome experience for those frustrated by the inability to travel. Once travel becomes unrestricted, it's certain that many will want to visit the regions they discovered through these online live events.

The online live streams will be available on the entertainment site "uP!!!" and the video distribution platform "TELASA." Related video content, viewable for free without a ticket, can be accessed through the special project website and the "au 5G Channel" onOPENREC.tv.

Ahead of the event, viewing tickets for the online live performances went on sale starting February 28, 2022, with regional introduction videos being released sequentially.

Exclusive content, including making-of footage and comments from the artists about their upcoming performances, is packed with highlights that fans will appreciate.
