Delivering that blissful moment for adults is the radio program "TOKYO MOON" by DJ, selector, and broadcaster Toshio Matsuura. Thought-provoking music and topics, carefully chosen from around the world, are broadcast every Friday night on interfm. On this page, we reintroduce the charm of "TOKYO MOON" along with the recently aired playlist.

Art has become more accessible, not just as something to be appreciated, but in recent years, with the added element of being something to be enjoyed in daily life. Japan once had a culture of decorating the tokonoma alcove with hanging scrolls and flowers; this event, "THE SCENE vol.5 -ART x MUSIC MARKET-," was conceived with the desire to revive that sensibility in a contemporary form.
THE BASICS FUKUOKA, established in 2020, is a hotel that stimulates intellectual curiosity, creating new experiences and perspectives to make stays in Fukuoka more enjoyable. I, who have been in charge of the hotel's and guest rooms' background music since its opening, became the producer and have been regularly holding events like "THE SCENE," which cross over lifestyle culture such as fashion, art, wine & food with music, since 2022. For vol.5, we are focusing on art once again.
Artists from Japan and abroad, connected through music and based in Paris, London, and Tokyo, will gather to exhibit works inspired by music in the hotel lobby. The exhibition will run for ten days and will also be available for purchase online.
• Jean-Philippe Delhomme Fashion illustrator/painter/culture writer. He has provided works for major global fashion magazines and houses, and has also published books, traversing culture through both visuals and text.
• Hiro Sugiyama Art director/visual artist. He presents works using diverse methods such as video, installations, and paintings, and is a leading figure in the Tokyo culture scene.
• Mari Katayama Artist. She is known for her works that question social norms such as "nature," "artificiality," and "correctness," utilizing diverse media including photography, painting, and sewing.
• Shu Murakami Graphic designer/artist. He operates the product brand "amabro" and engages in shop management and design projects, working under the theme of "Art For Daily Life."
• Masaru Iura Graphic designer/art director/artist. Based at TGB design., he works across a wide range of fields, from products and space development to picture books.
• Land ahoy studio Creative unit based in London. Experts in design, video, and sound gather to create experiences that appeal to sight, hearing, and touch.

Toshio Matsuura
In 1990, he formed United Future Organization (U.F.O.), releasing five full albums
in 32 countries worldwide, earning high acclaim.
After starting his solo career in 2002, he has been active as a DJ at clubs and festivals both domestically and internationally.
He also produces events and handles music supervision for highly curated lifestyle spots
such as hotels, international brands, and Michelin-starred restaurants.

In 2013, he launched "HEX," a project disseminating current jazz, and released the album "HEX" worldwide from Blue
Note Records. In 2018, he released an album from a new project, "TOSHIO
MATSUURA GROUP," featuring young musicians from the UK.
In 2024, it was re-released on vinyl from the UK's Brownswood Recordings.

After leaving U.F.O. in 2002, he has continued to play as a solo dj at clubs and festivals
internationally and currently produces events and supervises music for notable fashion brands.
He also has produced many remix works of artist in a wide range of genres,
such as James Brown, Astor Piazzolla, Gotan Project, Melanie De Biasio, etc.
In 2013, he gathered talented and forward-thinking artists based in Tokyo to produce
a project called “HEX,” which presents Tokyo’s progressive form of Jazz to the world.
The debut album “HEX” was released from Blue Note Records worldwide.
Recently, his new project "Toshio Matsuura Group" gathered radical musicians from UK
and album was released from Brownswood Recordings 2018.
The album is re-released on double vinyl from Brownswood Recordings in 2024.
