The Five Corners Quintet Releases Latest Live Album

The Five Corners Quintet, Europe's No. 1 jazz band, creates contemporary sounds inspired by the golden age of jazz. Their latest release, 'Jazz Heat, Bongo Beat! -The Helsinki Sessions-', features their best live performances. The album, brimming with the appeal of the band as a live act, was exclusively pre-released in Japan on May 1st.

※ We are offering a special invitation for two pairs of guests to attend a live performance by The Five Corners Quintet at BLUE NOTE TOKYO. Please apply via the form below.

Appearing at BLUE NOTE TOKYO from May 29th (Sat) to 31st (Mon)!

The Five Corners Quintet, hailed as the finest jazz group of the 2000s, emerged from Helsinki, Finland. Comprised of leading musicians from Europe's new generation jazz scene, their 2005 debut, 'Chasin' The Jazz Gone By', is highly regarded for defining the contemporary club jazz movement.

Their second album, 'HOT CORNER', released three years later, shed the cool, stylish image of their debut, revealing a much hotter, hip, and distinctly live band sound. It's a masterpiece that truly captures the essence of contemporary jazz.

The new album, 'Jazz Heat, Bongo Beat! -The Helsinki Sessions-', released in Japan ahead of other territories, offers a chance to experience an even more evolved The Five Corners Quintet (FCQ). It features a non-stop live recording of popular tracks like 'Trading Eights', 'Unsquare Bossa', and 'Three Corners' from their debut, already a club jazz staple, and their energetic second album. From the first listen, the inherent groove of jazz transmits with the same intensity as a live venue, making FCQ's aim of 'reconstructing (remixing) the jazz of the 50s and 60s golden era' immediately understandable.

FCQ, a live club jazz band that truly embodies the spirit of 21st-century jazz, will return to BLUE NOTE TOKYO from May 29th (Sat) to 31st (Mon). Their live performance is expected to captivate a wide audience, from young club-goers to devoted long-time jazz fans.
