A Masterpiece Exceeding Two Hours, Fueled by a Passion for Music

"The energy poured into this album is also a message from me to everyone who has been worried about me due to my illness and the resulting gaps in my schedule. I believe it contains many hints for the next album I will create in the near future, so please listen to it."
Ryuichi Sakamoto

Ryuichi Sakamoto's new album, 'Year Book 2005-2014,' is set for release on Saturday, January 17th. As the title suggests, it features 30 unreleased tracks composed by Sakamoto between 2005 and 2014, spanning a substantial 2 hours and 20 minutes.

The collection includes diverse pieces such as "Cantus Omnibus Unus," the theme song for the 7th World Symposium of Choral Music 'Choral Highlights 2005'; "Visionare," created for the accompanying CD of the New York art magazine 'Visionaire'; and "Ghosts," a track born from an unsolicited email request, where the final usage remains unknown. Despite the varied circumstances of their creation, these works are unified by a professional quality that resonates with the listener.

The menswear brand 'Yohji Aoyama' commissioned Ryuichi Sakamoto for their 50th anniversary project, 'new professional new suits,' for which he composed the theme song "Blu" and its accompanying video (2014).

Unlike albums produced and edited for release, this work, with its strong archival nature, reveals the ebb and flow of Sakamoto's artistic inclinations. Spanning a decade of his extensive career, the album presents a diverse lineup including piano solos, electronic music, and remixes.

According to Sakamoto's own comments, the release of this album was long planned, and he is now preparing to release an original album following his previous work, 'Out of Noise.' The collection of deeply engaging and rich musical pieces evokes anticipation for his next creation. All eyes are on Ryuichi Sakamoto's current artistic endeavors.
