Sharing to Create Something Better

Kyowa Kirin maintains R&D bases not only in Japan but also overseas to strengthen the establishment of new drug discovery technologies and the creation of novel drug candidates. By approaching and considering from environments different from Japan, it is possible to achieve dramatic results.

One such initiative is an area called Biopolis in Singapore. Under the leadership of the Singapore government, multiple public institutions collaborate to create a global R&D hub for the biomedical field. Researchers from various countries gather, sharing information and knowledge to improve the success rate of clinical development. This initiative is called "Open Innovation." Kyowa Kirin has been actively utilizing this approach for some time, promoting research more smoothly and safely.

For the fifth installment of "10 SOUNDS OF LIFE SCIENCE," DJ KAWASAKI visited a research institute in Biopolis. He was reportedly surprised upon hearing about its facilities, noting that it was an environment where things impossible in Japan could be achieved. Music, too, is born when cross-border exchanges occur. Encountering sensibilities different from one's own can lead to outcomes that exceed imagination. When he heard the term "open innovation," it was likely because he had already experienced that feeling and understood its importance.

The track is titled "Episode." DJ KAWASAKI refers to the moments when unexpected tracks or mixes are born through interactions with artists and audiences as "Magic." He expresses in sound the moments that foreshadow definite results and the times when an indescribable exhilaration spreads. This track is available for streaming on SoundCloud and for download for a limited period of one month.
