From Rare Photos to Exclusive Merchandise
How Did Oasis Ascend to Stardom?──The exhibition, first unveiled in London this April to over 40,000 visitors, now arrives in Japan. As the second location after London and the first in Asia, this exhibition showcases a wealth of items, from rare early photographs capturing their meteoric rise and rewriting of rock history, to handwritten lyrics, instruments, and personal belongings.
Oasis, formed in 1991 around brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, achieved over 70 million total sales worldwide during their 14-year recording career from their 1994 debut to 2008, breaking numerous music records. The band's history is also known for the sibling rivalry between Noel and Liam, and their story concluded with Noel's departure in 2009.
At the venue, a replica of the living room where the jacket photo for their debut album "Definitely Maybe" was taken at member Bonehead's home at the time has been recreated. Visitors can sit in the set and take photos.
To commemorate the Japan exhibition, special content includes a display of photographs by MITCH IKEDA, who accompanied the band on their Japanese tours, and a screening of their first performance in Japan at Shibuya Club Quattro in 1994. Additionally, visitors can find exclusive merchandise, including Japan-only special goods, available only at the venue.
Furthermore, as the second release in the "CHASING THE SUN" product line, their 1995 second album "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?", which sold 22 million copies worldwide, will be released in Japan first as a three-disc deluxe edition. The original album has been remastered and includes rare tracks and unreleased bonus content, making it a coveted item for fans.
Celebrating 20 years since their debut, Oasis continues to command immense popularity. With their timeless music and way of life, it's time to once again ask ourselves, "What is Oasis to you?"
