New Value Born from Collaboration with Other Artists
Toshio Matsuura has been active internationally since the dawn of the club scene and continues to be active on a global scale. He holds numerous titles, including DJ, selector, broadcaster, and music producer.
"TOKYO MOON" is the popular music program on InterFM897 produced by Matsuura.
It began in January 2010 and has aired over 500 times to date. In a one-man style where Matsuura handles everything from the program's structure and music selection to the talk, he seamlessly connects music from jazz to soul, cinematic, folk, rock, world, and dance music.
His selections, transcending eras and genres, have consistently offered a listening experience that is at times soothing and at times thrilling.
2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the program's launch. To commemorate this, it was announced that Matsuura would be launching two new projects.
The first is a crowdfunding campaign. Supporters will receive items designed by artists with close ties to Matsuura, as well as playlists curated by Matsuura, as rewards.
The rewards include all playlists from the past 10 years (over 500 episodes), custom-made original playlists, the right to participate with your voice in program jingles, and a variety of items such as T-shirts designed by artists with close ties to Matsuura, including Simon Taylor of the British artist collective Tomato, German photographer Norbert Schoerner, New York-based Japanese photographer TAKAY, and artist Shu Murakami.
The second is the group exhibition "somewhere not here," held at "BRICK & MORTAR," a concept shop and gallery in Naka-Meguro, Tokyo, that curates lifestyle items from Japan and abroad.
In this exhibition, a total of nine artists, including the four participating in the crowdfunding campaign, will express the program "TOKYO MOON" through their art: Keiji Ito, Katsu Iura, Yusuke Oki, Simon Taylor, TAKAY, Norbert Schoerner, Shu Murakami, and others.
During the exhibition period, the crowdfunding reward products will also be displayed at the venue. The created artworks will be available for purchase on CAMPFIRE.
Additionally, during the exhibition, after closing hours, there will be an unbroadcast Instagram Live stream featuring artist introductions and DJ sets by Matsuura. August 9 (Sun) 7:00 PM - DJ: Toshio Matsuura, VJ: Katsu Iura, Yusuke Oki, Live Painting: Shu Murakami Instagram Account@toshiomatsuura

Regarding this event, Matsuura commented, "The style of listening to music based on 'atmosphere,' 'vibe,' and 'tone' rather than genre, primarily in Europe, will continue to expand, and in Japan, it will spread particularly among the new generation.
To deepen this pioneering style in the public sphere, centered around radio, even amidst the pandemic and post-pandemic era, and to solidify it, we believe that support from listeners with refined musical taste who can embrace innovative ideas and diversity is necessary, which is why we have launched this project.
By dedicating more passion, time, and funds to musical exploration, I am confident that we can continue to share the progressive music we should be listening to now and undiscovered, wonderful music.
We have incorporated the opinions of many listeners into this project. With the help of my artist friends who are fans of "TOKYO MOON," we have also been able to create reward items that stimulate creative minds.
We kindly ask for your support if you are willing to endorse this project and place your expectations on it."
