Hailing from Scotland, the electronic music duo Boards of Canada began their musical journey in the late 1980s.

In 1998, they released 'Music Has the Right to Children' on Warp Records, a seminal British techno label. This album pioneered 'folktronica,' blending acoustic elements with the IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) and electronica of the 90s. Their subsequent works, 'Geogaddi' and 'The Campfire Headphase,' are also considered essential masterpieces in the history of electronic music.

During Record Store Day in April this year, a Boards of Canada 12-inch vinyl suddenly appeared in record shops. Without any prior announcement, and with an unknown number of copies pressed, this record has since been discovered at 'Other Music' in New York and 'Rough Trade East' in London, with rumors also circulating of sightings in record stores in several cities, including Tokyo.

The record sleeve featured an enigmatic inscription: '―― / ―― / ―― / XXXXXX / ―― / ――.' Those who acquired the record used the leaked audio from YouTube to decipher the six-digit number that likely belonged in the 'XXXXXX' slot. Subsequently, a series of numbers were released sequentially through outlets like the UK's BBC Radio, America's NPR, and fan sites, generating significant buzz, particularly among international music media. Fans who pieced together all the numbers were then able to enter them as a password on the Boards of Canada official website, revealing a video containing information about their new album. The existence of 'Tomorrow's Harvest,' their first album in eight years, was confirmed and disseminated worldwide by the very fans who uncovered it.

The Music Video Finally Revealed

At midnight on Wednesday, May 22nd, the new track 'Reach For The Dead' was unveiled on the giant screen at Shibuya Scramble Crossing. The track 'Cold Earth' was played before Squarepusher's set at a music event in Detroit, and a listening event was held in the California desert, all fueling anticipation from media and fans. Finally, on Wednesday, June 5th, the new album is released.

Their sound, a grand-scale psychedelia that seems to awaken dormant landscapes within the consciousness, confirms Boards of Canada as a truly unique entity and 'Tomorrow's Harvest' as their magnum opus.

The soundscape of this work will undoubtedly guide listeners on an auditory journey far beyond their imagination and expectations.
