Vampire Weekend's "Modern Vampires of the City"

An Ambitious Work Featuring the Band's First External Producer
Formed in 2006 by four friends who met while attending Columbia University, Vampire Weekend hails from Brooklyn. Their self-titled 2008 debut, "Vampire Weekend," and its follow-up, "Contra," each sold over a million copies worldwide. "Contra" topped the US charts and reached number three in the UK, captivating audiences globally. Now, their third album, "Modern Vampires of the City," arrives after a three-year interval.
This new release was recorded in Los Angeles, with production by member Rostam Batmanglij and Ariel Rechtshaid, who has previously worked with artists like Usher and Glasser, marking the band's first collaboration with an external producer. While retaining their signature multinational sound, the album incorporates piano, acoustic guitar, and organ throughout, pursuing a simple, organic sonic palette.
Their recent sold-out performance in Japan this February, which generated considerable buzz, is still fresh in memory. They are scheduled to return to Japan for the second time this year to perform at Fuji Rock festival in July.
