Guiding Sakanaction to Success
THE PUBLIC is a project born from the combined experience of Space Shower TV, which launched in 1989 as Japan's first music-specialty channel, and Answer, the operator of the web magazine "Public Image Org" that covers domestic and international cultural trends. It was established to provide knowledge and experience relevant to today's needs. Alongside in-person lectures, the project offers live streaming, creating opportunities to share essential knowledge online.
Launched last November as a new series, "Ongaku Danwashitsu" features Takuya Oyama, editor-in-chief of the music news site Natalie, as moderator. The course spotlights individuals working at the forefront of the music industry, inviting them to share their knowledge and experience.
The first guest lecturer was Tatsuya Nomura, a producer who has managed artists like BUMP OF CHICKEN and Sakanaction, and has also been involved in discovering new talent and producing live events. The course aimed to explore what the music industry currently lacks and what is needed, offering insights into production techniques.

The archive is divided into three parts and uploaded to YouTube. This installment specifically focuses on Sakanaction, with each part detailing the know-how derived from real-world experience, including the selection and use of media suited to the times, promotional strategies, and the meticulous data collection that formed their foundation, all contributing to Sakanaction's breakthrough success.
These valuable course archives, which sold out instantly upon ticket release, offer a deep dive into the strategies behind achieving success. We also encourage you to keep an eye on THE PUBLIC, as it continues to feature an impressive lineup of guest lecturers.
