A new musical adventure taken by three
In July 2012, a band announced their disbandment on their website. Sadly, all bands eventually come to an end. While the reasons vary, in their case, it was a difficult decision stemming not from a typical clash of personalities, but because "something wasn’t right in the band." This occurred just before they were set to record their fourth album. This is the story of Scattered Trees, a five-piece band based in Chicago that had been active since 2003.
As they bid farewell to their companions with whom they had shared joys and sorrows, and prepared to move forward, lead vocalist Nate Eellsland, bassist Ryan Estwing, and keyboardist Alyssa Eellsland realized they were all facing the same direction. This was the birth of On An On. With a completely fresh mindset, they vowed to create only the music they truly desired. They entered the studio with their producer from the Scattered Trees era, Dave Newfeld.
The resulting debut album, 'Give In,' features, starting with the first track 'Ghosts,' exquisite drumming and sounds that would impress any rock fan. This owes much to Newfeld's efforts. He is, in fact, the person who produced works for bands that defined the 2000s, such as Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals, and Los Campesinos!.
The lead single 'Ghosts' was featured in the popular American drama 'Grey's Anatomy,' and a remix by DFA Records' flagship artist YACHT garnered considerable attention. The Japanese edition, released ahead of the rest of the world on January 23rd, is a deluxe version that includes this remix.
