What is the 2018 Tour Theme?
Takashi Ikeda, who debuted as the keyboardist for SUPER BUTTER DOG in 1997, has always sported an afro as his trademark. He is highly regarded not only as a musician but also as a funky entertainer and a witty conversationalist during his live performances.
With a deep knowledge of Japanese history, he made his solo debut in 2007 with the project "Rekishi" and its self-titled album. His songs, set to funky music and featuring lyrics about Japanese history, along with his humorous stage presence, quickly gained attention.
Since then, he has released albums "Rekitsu," "Rekimi," and "Reshiki." These albums have featured collaborations with a star-studded lineup of guests, including Seiichi Itoh, Sheena Ringo, Kazuyoshi Saito, Takashi Yamaguchi (Sambomaster), Bose, ANI (Scha Dara Parr), Kaori Mochida, Motohiro Hata, Dohatsuten, and U-zhaan.
2017 marked the 10th anniversary of the release of his first album, "Rekishi." From June, he embarked on the nationwide tour "The Fairytale Land of Rekishi and Rice Ear Fairies," covering 14 locations, with all performances selling out.
In October, he held his first outdoor concert at Osaka Castle Nishinomaru Garden, performed for the first time over two consecutive nights at the Nippon Budokan, and concluded the tour with a performance in Okinawa, all of which also sold out. The tour concluded with great success.
This year's nationwide tour, the first in a year since "The Fairytale Land of Rekishi and Rice Ear Fairies," will kick off at the Asahikawa Civic Cultural Hall Grand Hall in Hokkaido, spanning 17 cities and 18 shows across the country.
The tour themes have garnered attention for their elaborate productions, with "Movies" in 2016 and a fantasy-inspired "Rice Ear Fairies" theme in 2017. The details of this year's tour have not yet been revealed. With rumors of a new album release this year, the tour is shaping up to be highly anticipated.
