A Conceptual TV Commercial Launched for a Fresh Start
Sakanaction, now active as one of Japan's leading artists, has their representative song and an anthem for the younger generation, "Shin Takarajima," featured in a new Spotify commercial currently airing on terrestrial television. The concept of this commercial is "With that song, you open a page of your youth," telling the story of a male university student who is encouraged by the music flowing from Spotify on his smartphone and walks powerfully towards the woman he admires.
The role of the introverted university student is played by the rising young actor Hiroya Shimizu, and the admired beauty in the library is played by Ayaka Miyoshi. Coupled with the release timing of Sakanaction's first best-of album, "Gyo Zukan," this is a conceptual commercial that perfectly matches the current stars and music. The library, where the two approach each other, is a metaphor for Spotify's music library of over 40 million songs, and the books clinging to the male university student's body like armor also represent the song that encourages the protagonist.
The Arrival of Streaming Has Changed How We Interact with Music
Dropping the needle on an analog record, placing a CD on the tray and pressing play... these ways of interacting with music, once commonplace, have become rare. In reality, most people interact with music through their smartphones or PCs. Even the tasks of ripping CDs or downloading now feel cumbersome. Regardless of whether this is good or bad, there's no doubt that the advent of streaming services, which allow access to a vast library of music from around the world anytime, anywhere, simply by operating a digital device, has drastically changed our listening environment.
Spotify, the world's largest music streaming service, was founded in Sweden in 2006 and launched its service in 2008, marking its 10th anniversary this year. It is currently used by over 159 million users worldwide. Although its official service in Japan began in 2016, making it a later entrant among streaming services, it has achieved remarkable rapid growth. In a market already crowded with services from platformers like Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Google Play, as well as Japanese services like LINE Music and AWA, Spotify has finally arrived as the true contender.
Easily Find the Music You Want to Hear
Spotify's appeal, which has earned it the largest global market share, surpassing other streaming services, lies in its user-friendliness. Simply access Spotify through your usual browser and sign up. You can also link with Facebook to create an account in no time, and immediately start listening to a variety of playlists and the latest hit tunes for free. Furthermore, by installing the app, you can enjoy music on your preferred digital devices like smartphones and tablets, and instantly switch playback from your PC to your smartphone.
If you know the artist or song title you're looking for, you can find it instantly with Spotify search, or simply choose your favorite genre. Even when you just want to play some music, there are abundant playlists that match your mood or daily life, presented on an easy-to-understand interface that appeals intuitively. For example, for your morning coffee break, on your commute, during your weekly run, when you need to focus on work, at a home party, or when you want to relax while traveling... Spotify caters to every situation where music would enhance the experience.
Generous Features Only the World's Number One Spotify Can Offer
From the latest hits both domestic and international to nostalgic classics, all songs can be enjoyed even in the free version, making it such a generous offering that one might wonder how they actually make a profit. To speak personally, I had been curious about what "city pop" music was, as I'd been seeing it mentioned in culture magazines and websites, and then I discovered this playlist.
From middle school until just a few years ago, I used to visit record shops if I wanted to listen to music, and I was often disappointed to find the CD I was looking for wasn't there. After those experiences, I started buying CDs online, but the time lag until delivery and the hassle of ripping them even became a source of stress. Streaming services, which allow instant access to any song, anytime, anywhere, have become an indispensable part of daily life.
The Premium Version Offers Ad-Free Listening and Offline Playback
After enjoying the free version for a while, skipping tracks as needed, audio advertisements suddenly begin to play. While it's not particularly bothersome, similar to listening to the radio, it can become noticeable if it continues for too long. The inability to enjoy music offline is also a significant difference. Of course, you can fully experience a life filled with music even with the free version, but human nature often leads to wanting more. By subscribing to the paid version (Spotify Premium), you can immerse yourself in your favorite music in your preferred order without any restrictions.
Furthermore, when comparing it to other streaming services, the superior sound quality is likely something most people will intuitively notice. The premium version allows you to choose from three options: standard, high, and highest quality. It powerfully drives your existing headphones and speakers, allowing you to experience a wider range of frequencies than ever before.
A New Life, A New Day, with Your Favorite Music
The world-renowned fashion designer Paul Smith has a motto: "Everyday is a new beginning." Many people strive for stability and work hard to achieve it. However, once they attain it, stable days can start to feel like a monotonous cycle. But for those of us who have experienced a great tragedy like 3.11, isn't this a poignant reminder that each ordinary day is precious and irreplaceable?
With the new fiscal year, new life, and new environment, a new day begins. It's the perfect time to start that workout or project you've been putting off. Spotify, which provides music to support such challenges, can be your best partner, allowing you to enjoy it anytime, anywhere. After all, music is the soundtrack that colors every moment of life.
