Soulwax and Michel Gaubert Handle the Music

LOEWE is opening its summer shop within the Ibiza Museum of Contemporary Art for the third time this year, and to celebrate the expanded revival collection of the maison's Paula's Boutique, they have released the specially produced music track "Close to Paradise" in limited quantities.

The result is a catchy summer tune that evokes the wild nights of Ibiza from the 70s and 80s.

The composition and production were handled by the Belgian rock band "Soulwax," with curation by sound producer Michel Gaubert, who has worked on numerous projects.


Four local characters narrate in an eclectic, escalating tempo, infusing the music with a unique perspective on Ibiza's profound charm.

The artwork is by the Paris-based illustration studio Ill-Studio, with pressing handled by the UK independent music and art production company, The Vinyl Factory.

The record is released as a collaboration between The Vinyl Factory and DEEWEE, Soulwax's label. It is also available for preview on SoundCloud and Deewee.com.

Since August, it has also been distributed on the iTunes Store and the music streaming service Spotify.

Michel Gaubert commented, "David and Stephen Dewaele (Soulwax) are both incredibly cultured and possess an astonishing knowledge of Ibiza, its people, and its place in the music scene. It was only natural that we sought their collaboration for this project."

Soulwax stated, "We've long admired Ibiza's history, so we are truly honored to have collaborated with LOEWE and Michel Gaubert on this project, creating a track that transforms interviews directly into music and helps shine a spotlight on the island's many forgotten stories."
