Breakbot has steadily built his reputation through remixes for major artists such as Air, Metronomy, MGMT, and Justice. Two years after his first single, 'Baby I'm Yours (feat. Irfane),' which set dance floors worldwide ablaze with a sound that masterfully fuses 1970s disco with cutting-edge electro, Ed Banger's championed artist has finally released his long-awaited debut album, 'By Your Side.'



This album, packed with everything from soulful pop and robot disco to emotional ballads, evokes the spirits of The Doobie Brothers, Todd Rundgren, and Daryl Hall & John Oates, while also recalling the theme songs of nostalgic 1980s American TV dramas like 'Silver Spoons' and 'Punky Brewster.'

'My older brother had a huge influence on me when I was young. My eldest brother, David, taught me about soul, funk, and pop. He used to make tapes of Michael Jackson, Prince, and Stevie Wonder and give them to me. I wanted to create an album that incorporated all those influences. But I also wanted it to be more than just a 'reference book'—an album that would lead listeners into a pop world.'

On this album, Breakbot himself handled everything except the vocals. 'I just play around with things. That's how a unique sound, a blend of various elements, comes into being,' he explains. Supporting his signature 'Breakbot sound' are emerging vocalists. 'Fantasy' features Ruckazoid, whose delicate, high-pitched vocals are so reminiscent of Michael Jackson that you might question if it's him. For 'By Your Side,' he enlisted Björn Dixgård from the Swedish band Mando Diao as the vocalist.
