The Sonic Image: "The Warmth of Wood"

"Beau Paysage" (French for "beautiful landscape") is the winery of Hideshi Okamoto in Yamanashi Prefecture, crafting wines with a delicate, profound taste that seems to mirror the very essence of the land.

This has culminated in the "Beau Paysage La Montagne 2017" compilation CD book, featuring songs inspired by the taste of their Merlot wine, "TSUGANE la montagne."

Hiroshi Yoshimoto of bar buenos aires curated the music. The sonic image is "the warmth of wood." The mellow tones of wooden string instruments like the cello and guitar, along with woodwinds such as the clarinet, evoke the wine's flavor.

The album opens with the gentle, nature-praising piano and orchestra of Dutch pianist Louis van Dijk, followed by a Pat Metheny cover on acoustic guitar by Peo Alfonsi, and Akiko Kosemura's warm solo piano playing nostalgic melodies. The theme is "painting a beautiful musical landscape through wine," with a collection of deeply flavorful tracks from both Japan and abroad.

The 20-page mini-book includes six columns alongside evocative photographs. Particularly noteworthy is the chapter written by Okamoto himself, detailing the cultivation of Merlot grapes that began in 1998.

This CD was created to support the activities of Hideshi Okamoto's "Butterfly Project."

This initiative aims to foster a society where anyone can easily understand "who made a product, with what philosophy, and how," enabling them to choose items that align with their personal values.
