Jeff Mills' Diverse Approach to Classical Music

In Europe, new initiatives blending classical music with club music have been actively pursued in recent years. Jeff Mills is one of the artists spearheading this movement.

Following his performance with the Montpellier National Orchestra in France, released as the DVD "Blue Potential," Mills has been actively engaged in collaboration events with orchestras and classical ensembles across Europe.

His activities have attracted over 50,000 attendees and garnered attention beyond the realm of electronic artists.

Performing with Mills at the March concert will be the esteemed Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Hiroyuki Kurita. The concert will be in two parts. The first part will feature "Lezginka" from Aram Khachaturian's ballet "Gayane," considered one of the three great composers of the former Soviet Union, and Ryuichi Sakamoto's "Anger."

The second part is scheduled to perform Mills' album "Where Light Ends," inspired by his dialogue with astronaut Mamoru Mohri, and Mills' hit anthem "The Bells."

This performance is also part of "Bakucla!", a classical music talk and listening event hosted by freelance editor Reiko Yuyama, marking its first live event. Yuyama, who will also serve as the navigator for the day, commented, "I hope this initiative, which aims to make classical music more accessible, will attract new fans to classical music."

Furthermore, the participation of 21-year-old pianist Kyohei Sorita, who released his debut album "List" last year, has been confirmed. Tickets for this unprecedented collaborative event, bringing together musicians from diverse backgrounds, will go on general sale starting Saturday, January 30th. Advance reservations are currently available through the official website and Bunkamura's online ticket service "MY Bunkamura."
