Alexandre Dumas' beloved classic "The Three Musketeers" is reborn as a grand entertainment spectacle under the direction of the visionary Paul W.S. Anderson, known for "Resident Evil." This film subverts the "period piece" genre with its unconventional plot, thrilling action, and state-of-the-art 3D technology, utilizing eight cameras. Filmed on location at World Heritage sites and enhanced with CGI, the visuals are so spectacular you'll forget to breathe. The highlight is the battle between colossal airships, unlike anything seen before. The story posits that Leonardo da Vinci's designs for flying machines, conceived in the 17th century, were actually realized. This is a completely new action-adventure based on the classic "The Three Musketeers."
Orlando Bloom Takes on His First Villain Role!
The protagonist, the impetuous and spirited country boy D'Artagnan, is played by Logan Lerman, who gained attention in "Percy Jackson & The Olympians" (2010). At 19, he was the same age as D'Artagnan during filming. In fact, this is the first time an 18-year-old actor has played D'Artagnan. "It took 100 years to cast an actor of the right age for D'Artagnan," says director Anderson.
Milla Jovovich, also Anderson's wife, plays the "femme fatale" Milady, who shifts allegiances according to her desires. Her role, featuring acrobatic action worthy of the "Resident Evil" series, is described by the director as a "17th-century Bond girl."
Also noteworthy is Orlando Bloom, known for his portrayal of the earnest young man in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series (2003-2007), taking on his first villain role as the Duke of Buckingham. Overconfident and flamboyant, he is a dangerous individual who stops at nothing to achieve his goals. Bloom delivers a captivating performance, marking a new chapter in his career. "This is the birth of a heel (villain) since Jack Sparrow!" exclaims the director, urging viewers to pay attention to the Duke of Buckingham.
