The "Shibuya 5G Entertainment Project" comprises approximately 50 companies, including KDDI.
At "SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK SHIBUYA 2020," Tokyo's largest urban festival themed around social design, Miyashita Park has been transformed into "SOCIAL INNOVATION PARK" and is featuring AR content.
There are three pieces of content.
Part of the MR (Mixed Reality) special content "YOASOBI NOVEL INTO MUSIC," a collaboration between the "unit that turns novels into music," YOASOBI, and the Shibuya 5G Entertainment Project, is on display.
MR technology allows for an enjoyable musical experience beyond just listening.
The second exhibit showcases AR artworks created through the "Undergraduate Digital Artist Major" course offered at the specialized school Digital Hollywood.
The "NEWVIEW SCHOOL," which offers comprehensive XR education as fine art and is organized by Psychic VR Lab, is part of the joint project "NEWVIEW" by Psychic VR Lab, PARCO, and Loftwork. This school conducts lectures within the "Undergraduate Digital Artist Major" at Digital Hollywood (a specialized school).
In the course, students acquire software skills such as Maya and Unity in the "Expert Course Undergraduate Digital Artist Major," which pursues captivating visual expression. Building on this foundation, 11 special "NEWVIEW" lectures were held, featuring a distinguished lineup of instructors: Akihiko Taniguchi (Artist), Shinichi Yamamoto (Media Artist, Creative Director at superSymmetry), Seiichi Sega (Creative Technologist at superSymmetry), Osamu Mizuta (Manager, 5G & XR Service Planning and Development Department, KDDI Corporation), Yosh (Creative Director), and Discont (xR Space Designer).
As a result of this program, AR content utilizing STYLY will be exhibited. The works, created with new perspectives and rich sensibilities, are a must-see.
The third exhibit features award-winning works from "2050 SHIBUYA Mirai no Ongaku" presented in AR. "2050 SHIBUYA Mirai no Ongaku" was an event held on Sunday, November 8th.
This event involved analyzing the elements of music from 1990 and 2020 to create "future music that will likely be heard in Shibuya 30 years from now." Music creators and students under 25 produced these works, with nominated pieces selected from submitted entries for review and discussion.
This ambitious project predicts the music of 2050 from various perspectives, including listening environments, chord progressions, culture, and mixing, all reflecting the music of each era.
These contents can be enjoyed by installing the STYLY app on your smartphone or tablet and scanning the STYLY markers (QR codes) displayed at the venue. We encourage you to visit.
