"Café & Books Bibliothèque" disseminates culture through its unique selection of content, ranging from books, art, and design goods to live events and workshops. It is a lifestyle proposal-oriented cafe that creates a community space where people gather.
The newly opened Jiyugaoka store creates a sense of fun as a place connecting the station and the city with its bright and sophisticated store design. The interior, taking advantage of its location under the elevated railway, boldly incorporates the railway viaduct pillars that run through the store as design elements, resulting in a finish that allows you to feel the mass of the building and materials themselves, with exposed ceilings, ruggedly stacked bricks, and antique doors that evoke history.
The menu offers everything from morning options like tartines and freshly baked scones, to cafe time with popular pancakes and a wide selection of lunches, and dinner that can be enjoyed by individuals or groups. The attached book and goods store offers a rich selection of stationery, art, and design items, and for the first time, takeout menus are also available.
Furthermore, it functions as Jiyugaoka's "town concierge" connecting the station and the city, by hosting gallery exhibitions and workshop events that utilize the cafe space. Currently, to commemorate the opening, a fair in collaboration with the popular illustrator unit "STOMACHACHE." by sisters Nobue and Tomoe Miyazaki is being held until Friday, April 25th. Many limited edition items, such as ZINEs known for their street-style artwork, and canisters and mugs in collaboration with Bibliothèque, are available.
In the morning as a start to the day, at noon as a place for lunch, in the evening as a place to stop by for a quick break, and at night as a place to enjoy meals and drinks with cherished friends—It seems poised to become Jiyugaoka's "new standard," adaptable to various lifestyles.
