Charles Heidsieck
The Legendary 1995 Blanc des Millénaires
The finest Champagne for gentlemen. This is a fitting title for the maison Charles Heidsieck, which is finally launching in Japan this autumn, with its most exquisite offering, "Blanc des Millénaires 1995," arriving in December.

A Rich and Sensual Taste Befitting a Sociable Gentleman
Charles Heidsieck is a Champagne house founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck to realize his own ideals.
At the age of 29, he established a maison bearing his own name and is known for being an early adopter of the 2nd-century underground chalk quarries, known as crayères, as aging cellars, which were not yet widely recognized at the time.
Its high-quality wines earned a gold medal at the 1859 Bordeaux Exposition. By 1977, it had grown to be so beloved by royalty, including the British Royal Family, that it produced a limited edition wine for Queen Elizabeth II's 25th anniversary and the "Royal Wedding Cuvée" for the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana in 1981.
Another significant factor in its success was its pioneering discovery of a new market in the New World, America, ahead of other maisons.
This autumn marks the official launch in Japan, with the release of "Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve" (7,875 yen) and "Charles Heidsieck Rosé Réserve" (9,240 yen). Grapes are meticulously selected from 60 crus, using equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. The Brut Réserve incorporates a generous 40% of reserve wines, the maximum blend, resulting in a remarkably rich flavor. In November, Cellar Master Thierry Roset visited Japan to host a launch party. His signature Champagne was generously served at the Peninsula Hotel venue, which recreated a gentleman's social gathering.
Following the "Brut Réserve" and "Rosé Réserve," the "Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 1995," a Blanc de Blancs Champagne harvested in 1995—a year considered legendary—has now been released in Japan. Aged for over 15 years in crayères dating back to Roman times, its rich and sensual taste makes it a true symbol of Charles Heidsieck.
In France, it has already received high acclaim, earning 98 out of 100 points from "Gilbert & Gaillard" magazine in 2010. The availability of this exquisite vintage in Japan is the best news for all Champagne lovers.
