Portraits of 100 Figures Connected to the Brand in Monochrome

NEIGHBORHOOD, originating from Ura-Harajuku and popular on the streets of Tokyo and the world, has been publishing its brand mook, NEIGHBORHOOD MAG., twice a year on an irregular basis since the Spring/Summer 2005 season. The popular ongoing series since its inception is the portrait collection "AGE OF APOCALYPSE" by photographer Osamu Nagahama. Now, to celebrate NEIGHBORHOOD's 20th anniversary, it is being published as a book by Space Shower Network under the title THE TOKYO HUNDREDS - Portraits of Harajuku Directed by NEIGHBORHOOD 20th ANNIVERSARY ISSUE.

Nagahama is a master photographer known for his photo book "Hell's Angels 1968-1980 New York, San Francisco," which captured the American biker gang that dominated the 60s, and "The Faces of the Valiant," featuring portraits of prominent Japanese figures such as writer Ken Kaiko and film director Koji Wakamatsu from the 1980s onwards. He is also widely active in fashion and advertising.

The newly published THE TOKYO HUNDREDS - Portraits of Harajuku features monochrome portraits of individuals connected to NEIGHBORHOOD, including Goro Takahashi of goro’s, Paul Mittelman of STUSSY, stylist Tsuyoshi Noguchi, freelance writer Masayuki Kawakatsu, and actress Kyoko Koizumi. Music producer Hiroshi Fujiwara commented, "This selection of people, this quality. A photo book that could only be made at this time, by these people." The result is an ambitious work that serves as a monument to Ura-Harajuku in both quality and scope.
