The history of Japanese art has been significantly rewritten in recent decades due to new discoveries and research findings. "A History of Japanese Art" is the result, authored by 25 leading experts in the field.
The volume is curated by Yuiji Yamashita, a professor at Meiji Gakuin University with extensive research across the spectrum of Japanese art history, and Akira Takashina, an associate professor at the University of Tokyo specializing in the history of medieval painting, particularly Yamato-e from the Muromachi period. This book, with its 380 pages and 500 illustrations selected and written by leading researchers, boasts an impressive scope, allowing readers to enjoy the long history of Japanese art as a single, cohesive narrative.
