Capturing the Zenith of Madchester Through Photography
Dennis Morris, a man whose legend is woven through his extraordinary career, was recognized for his talent by Bob Marley at the tender age of 11. He has since been at the forefront of capturing era-defining artists across rock, reggae, soul, and blues. His prodigious talent earned him immense support from musicians, allowing him to document not only their electrifying performances but also their unguarded moments, seen by only a select few.
This book is a curated selection from Dennis's archives, dedicated to The Stone Roses, whose reunion in 2011 was eagerly anticipated by music lovers and industry insiders alike. The collection vividly brings to life the entirety of the Madchester movement of the late 1980s.
To commemorate the book's advance release, Dennis visited Japan andappeared at an event at the Shinjuku store of Barneys New York, where a photo exhibition is being held until Sunday, July 28th.His energetic photographs, imbued with the passion of someone who lived through the frenetic music scene and shared intimate moments with a young The Stone Roses, possess an enduring brilliance that captivates us. Dennis Morris, a living archive of that musical era, continues to mesmerize with his vibrant imagery.
