Tsunagi Minami Photography Collection Fair at Daikanyama Tsutaya Books

Tsunagi Minami, who has been active as an art director, began his career as an artist in earnest in recent years. All the photography collections he offers are privately published, yet they are superb works in both content and design. With a solo exhibition in Paris scheduled for this autumn, a fair featuring one of today's most noteworthy artists is being held on the first floor of Building 2 at Daikanyama Tsutaya Books until Sunday, March 10th.

Four volumes where the book itself becomes an art object

The appeal of Minami Tsunagi's photography collections lies not just in viewing them, but in how they stimulate the imagination, allowing one to drift into a chain of images, a journey from one image to the next.

Published last summer, 'THE LOST AND FIND' is a thick volume that can be described by elements of a labyrinth of images, depth of thought, and forest, packed with 500 diverse photographs. Then, in early 2013, 'DUAL I' and 'DUAL II' were released simultaneously, each structured with two items placed side-by-side, inviting readers to decipher their relationship from the images. Both possess a strong presence, and the books themselves can be considered art objects.

The originality of the binding, unique to private editions, is also a major draw. From the choice of paper, offering a pleasant, rough texture with every turn of the page, to the precise color reproduction, every detail is meticulously crafted.

And 'Dimension of vision' is the catalog from his 2011 solo exhibition, extracting the elements that constitute the world. The cover photograph is presented in a sophisticated design with 100 variations.
