The Rules of Adult Style: FASHION RULE BOOK
Why not embrace aging with joy?──Midori Takahashi, a style guru and imaging director who launched the popular shop "Estnation," presents her second book, "The Rules of Adult Style: FASHION RULE BOOK," released on February 7th. This follows her 2011 "The Working Woman's Wardrobe: A Fashion Textbook." Text by MIDORI TAKAHASHI (Oens)
The Author, Japan's Foremost Expert in Adult Style, Shares Her Rules
In my late thirties, I found myself increasingly feeling that things that once suited me no longer did, and I struggled to find anything I wanted to wear.
My body shape, skin tone, and hair were all subtly changing, and it felt like there was nothing I could readily accept. I even felt a sense of fear, wondering if I could ever enjoy fashion again, and spent my days in a state of panic. It was then that I rediscovered the classic style I'd seen women wear abroad: a simple combination of a white shirt and jeans. And what happened?
Suddenly, my skin, my figure, even my mood felt lighter. I realized that aging is simply about confronting oneself. From that day forward, I began to look forward to getting older, and my desire to live with my own style grew stronger.
To everyone else who shares my concerns, who stands at the threshold of true adulthood, I want to convey the same realization I had: that youthfulness isn't just about appearance, but about a healthy, radiant spirit. It's about making an effort to enjoy your time. It's about creating a harmonious style in your daily life with partners and friends.
My greatest happiness would be if this book helps you realize these things, find the courage, and embrace the journey of aging.
Let's walk together towards becoming wonderful adult women.──MIDORI
