A Rich Life Revealed Through Extensive Documentation
Founded in 1997 by Tokuhiko Kise and Yumi Karatsu, TRUCK crafts and sells furniture that reflects their own desires, unswayed by fleeting trends. Their pieces, made from materials like wood, leather, and iron, are designed for longevity and quickly gained a devoted following, not just in their native Osaka but across Japan.
'TRUCK NEST' documents the nine-year process of creating a space where the couple could live comfortably with their family under a large, real tree, while also integrating their home, workshop, shop, and cafe.
The book presents extensive photographs alongside Kise and Karatsu's story of building their ideal 'nest.' It details their meticulous process, from repeatedly visiting landscaping nurseries to find the perfect tree for their shop to hand-painting all the signage. These accounts of crafting their unique space are presented in both Japanese and English.
This 400-page record chronicles their journey of building the new TRUCK with joy and care. The rich lifestyle it portrays is sure to inspire and influence our own daily lives.
