Contemporary Artist Hiroyuki Matsukage Solo Exhibition "Daily Harvest ~ A Day in the Life" Opens
Contemporary artist Hiroyuki Matsukage has created works in a style distinct from his previous output, focusing on photographs of meals he has cooked himself over the past three years. These will be unveiled for the first time at his solo exhibition, "Daily Harvest ~ A DAY IN THE LIFE," held from August 1st (Friday) at Koganecho Bazaar's "Gallery Saitou Fine Arts" (colloquially known as Y-Zemi).

Reflecting on the Past Three Years Through Culinary Photography
Hiroyuki Matsukage, an artist affiliated with Mizuma Art Gallery, is known for creating works including female portraits, performances, and installations.
The artist, also the chairman of the art collective "Showa 40 Kai" (Born in 1965 Association), presents 70 photographs of meals he prepared himself over the last three years. This exhibition offers a look back at his past three years, a period marked by a dramatic shift following 3.11, a nomadic lifestyle, and a sudden marriage, all explored through the medium of food photography.
This exhibition is held as part of the "Virtual Community Asia - Koganecho Bazaar 2014" program.

Hiroyuki MATSUKAGE
A contemporary artist and photographer, Hiroyuki Matsukage was born in Fukuoka in 1965. After graduating from the Department of Photography at Osaka University of Arts in 1987, he was selected for the Venice Biennale in 1990 as part of the art unit "Compresso Plastico," making him the youngest participant at the time. Since then, he has participated in numerous international art festivals both in Japan and abroad. His activities span a wide range, including installations, performances, writing, graphic design, and filmmaking, with a primary focus on photographic works. He serves as the chairman of the artist collective "Showa 40 Kai" (alongside Makoto Aida, Tsuyoshi Ozawa, Oscar Oiwa, Kinoshita Parco, and Junju Arima). He also pursued a musical career, performing live with the rock duo "Gorgeous" alongside Munetaka Ujino. He is a full-time lecturer at Bigakkou. In recent years, he participated in the Setouchi Triennale 2013 with "Showa 40 Kai." He is represented by Mizuma Art Gallery.
