Held in conjunction with the Hayama Art Festival
Koshu Endo, who was once praised by the late Nihonga painter Ikuo Hirayama as possessing 'timeless beauty,' was born in Nagano Prefecture in 1954. After graduating from the School of Science and Engineering at Waseda University and working as a researcher for a company, he uniquely transitioned to a career as a photographer.
His work spans a wide range of scenes, including landscapes, portraits, and astrophotography. His representative works include the photo collection 'Gifts from the Universe' and 'Kawai Gyokudo,' which features over 1,500 photographs of works by the Nihonga painter Gyokudo Kawai, taken across Japan.
This exhibition, held at the Hayama Museum of Art—designed by architect Kengo Kuma—coincides with the Hayama Art Festival. Approximately 30 pieces will be displayed, including works shot in Hayama by Endo and his representative 'Yuragi' series depicting water surfaces. The exhibition promises to captivate with its ethereal world, resonating with the unique architectural space surrounded by lush greenery.
