Approximately 50 works, including those capturing the sharp sunlight that falls on Scandinavia in winter

Born in Shiga Prefecture in 1972, Shinji Otani has a unique background, having worked as a ceramic artist in Japan before moving to the Netherlands. He graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in the Netherlands with a degree in photography in 2007 and has since won numerous awards, including grand prizes at international photo exhibitions, marking him as a photographer with great future potential.


This exhibition, curated by photographer Yoshihiko Ueda, will showcase approximately 50 carefully selected pieces from the series 'The Country of the Rising Sun,' which was shot over three separate locations in the suburbs of Stockholm across different seasons.



The suburban landscapes evoke a sense of 'somewhere that is nowhere,' reminiscent of new towns in Japan. The collection includes photographs that capture the sharp sunlight of Scandinavia's short winter, presenting works that linger in the heart.
