Works Exploring the Relationship Between Water and Humans
Iketani has been working on pieces themed around 'control.' He has pursued scuba diving as a hobby, exploring seas in various locations. What he has witnessed are the beauty of the sun seen from underwater, the daily lives of creatures living in the water, and humans who are granted a fleeting glimpse into that world. Captivated by water, which could be described as philosophical, Iketani has continued to photograph water as a symbol of 'that which humans can never control.'
At the venue, he will present works that capture humans returning to mother water, evoking the sound of water. In addition to the exhibition and sale of original prints, a meticulously produced photobook will also be available. Furthermore, an opening reception will be held from 6:00 PM on Friday, November 22nd, the opening day.
Iketani states, 'Humans cannot survive underwater. Yet, humans cannot survive without water. Water nurtures life, and yet it also takes life. However, water exists simply as water, neither 'creation' nor 'destruction.'"
