Aoyama Sando Art Fair 2013: 49 Shops Become Galleries

Aoyama Sando, the backstreet connecting Aoyama Dori and Omotesando, will be the stage for the Aoyama Sando Art Fair, an event that fills the area with art from Thursday, October 24th to Sunday, October 27th.

Reception parties will be held at each participating store on the first day.

Born in 2007 to invigorate Aoyama Sando with art and to introduce the joy of "purchasing" works by emerging contemporary artists, the Aoyama Sando Art Fair returns. Organized by H.P. France, which operates galleries and shops in Tokyo, this year 49 shops will participate, transforming the entire Aoyama Sando area into an artistic space.

The venues are the spaces of the approximately 49 participating shops. Works by 60 artists will be stylishly displayed. The jewelry select shop "H.P. France Bijoux" will introduce glassworks by Miyamatsu Glass, whose creations embody a coexistence of freshness and fragility, exuding a clear tension. Meanwhile, at the "Izakaya Tokyo Jyugetsu" (a pub), three-dimensional works by artist Ante Vojnovic will be featured. Essentially, all exhibited works are available for purchase.

On the first day, Thursday, October 24th, starting at 6:00 PM, reception parties will be held at the participating shops. Furthermore, throughout the event, various activities such as workshops, live events, and performances are planned.

The Aoyama Sando Art Fair brings together art that stimulates a sense of playful sophistication. By casually engaging with art, visitors can explore a more intimate relationship with it, such as "purchasing art and bringing it home."
