German Artist Anselm Reyle's Solo Exhibition "INTO THE VOID"
The first solo exhibition in Japan by German artist Anselm Reyle, "INTO THE VOID," will be held from Saturday, September 21st to Friday, October 18th, at Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Moto-Azabu, Minato-ku. A curated exhibition will also be presented alongside the solo show, offering the first glimpse of Anselm Reyle's world in Japan.

Anselm Reyle is known in Germany in recent years as a representative artist dealing with abstract expressionism and formalism. Born in Germany in 1970, he is currently based in Berlin. Since 2009, he has also dedicated himself to nurturing the next generation as a professor of painting at a university.
His works are characterized by their use of kitsch found objects and intense color palettes, including neon colors. By combining existing materials commonly found in urban environments—such as acrylic, mirrors, and concrete—with elements like fluorescent paint and neon lights, which can be seen as somewhat "discordant," he liberates them from their original functions and imbues them with new meaning and concepts.
This, his first solo exhibition in Japan, features not only classical works but also bold paintings created by spraying fire extinguishers across entire walls, as well as pieces finished with lasers and scrap materials. The dramatic presentation of these everyday materials evokes a powerful ambivalence and infinite potential, stimulating the viewer's imagination.
Furthermore, on Saturday, September 21st, the opening day of the solo exhibition, a large-scale curated exhibition by Anselm Reyle titled "SPECTRA VISION" will also be held at Kaikai Kiki's art merchandise stores Hidari Zingaro, Oz Zingaro, and Kaikai Zingaro in Nakano Broadway. This exhibition will showcase a diverse range of works by six emerging artists, including students whom Reyle personally mentors at university.
Additionally, Anselm Reyle is set to serve as a judge for "GEISAI #19," an art festival for discovering artists, produced by contemporary artist Takashi Murakami, who leads Kaikai Kiki. This event will take place on Sunday, September 22nd. This autumn, one should experience the "infinite world" of abstract art that Anselm Reyle has nurtured and continues to expand over many years.
