Held concurrently with a feature on Nazraeli Press

Currently based in San Francisco and working as an assistant professor at the California College of the Arts, Todd Hido was born in 1968. He is known for his beautiful photographs that evoke narrative, and his work is collected by institutions such as the Guggenheim Museum and the Whitney Museum, establishing him as a representative figure in contemporary American photography.



His previous publications include 'House Hunting' (2001), which captured suburban roadside homes at night; 'BETWEEN THE TWO' (2006), featuring unknown models in motel rooms; and 'A ROAD DIVIDED' (2010), a series of desolate landscapes photographed from inside a car. These were published by Nazraeli Press, a publisher specializing in photography books in the United States.



This exhibition, the first major presentation of Todd Hido's work in Japan, was realized following POST's decision to feature Nazraeli Press as the eleventh publisher in its series of shop-exclusive publisher features.

The venue displays large-format, meticulously detailed color photographs of landscapes and portraits, exuding an overwhelming presence. The images capture a dense atmosphere and a specific moment in time, imbued with a tension and gravitas that suggest they could only have existed in that place and at that time, despite their anonymity.
