Since the 1950s, Eikoh Hosoe has garnered attention for his unique portrayals of individuals in works such as "Man and Woman" and "Killed by Roses." In recent years, he has continued to create series like "Kazuo Ohno" and "People Around the Works," demonstrating an ever-expanding and unconventional approach to his art.

For this exhibition, "Ningen Rodin," Hosoe primarily photographed the sculptures of Auguste Rodin at the Rodin Museum in Paris. The exhibition commemorates the re-creation of his 2010 photobook "Ningen Rodin," originally produced in an accordion-fold binding using Japanese paper, under the design of GRAPH. The photobook is presented in two volumes, each with an edition of only 25 copies.

In addition to the photographs from the photobook, the venue also displays four works printed using the "some-zuri" (dye printing) technique on washi paper crafted by Living National Treasure Ichibei Iwano.

As Hosoe himself states, "I want to express 'Ningen Rodin,' not just 'photographs of Rodin's sculptures,'" this exhibition offers an unprecedented exploration, focusing his distinctive gaze on the sculptural works. We invite you to experience the humanity of the subjects that Hosoe perceived within Rodin's human-formed sculptures.
