Rare Polaroids of Studio Nudes, Previously Unseen, Also on Display

Born in Austria, Andreas H. Bitesnich made a striking debut in 1998 with 'NUDE,' his first photobook, which was also selected for the Kodak Photobook Award. Since then, he has held exhibitions primarily in Europe and published eleven photobooks.

The first part, 'STUDIO NUDES,' features a comprehensive selection of his signature studio nudes from various periods. Additionally, rare Polaroid works, which have remained unpublished until now, will be shown concurrently.

The second part, 'DEEPER SHADES,' running from May 29 (Wednesday) to June 12 (Wednesday), moves beyond the studio. It showcases cityscape works from Tokyo and New York, which Bitesnich has been developing as a new life's work in recent years. With meticulous attention to detail—strong contrasts, textured surfaces, and monochrome finishes emphasizing darkness—he constructs a complex urban mood.

Pursuing a perfection of beauty with flawless precision, his nude works depict the body as a self-contained microcosm, separate from the external world. In stark contrast, the photographs capture the restless pulse of the city. These two exhibitions, marking his first solo show in Japan, are packed with the essence of Andreas H. Bitesnich's artistry and are sure to captivate the Japanese audience.
