About the Exhibition
When I look at children's drawings, I see people, animals, and cars that overflow the boundaries of the paper, not considering its size. While drawings that fit neatly within the frame create their own world, the unseen, overflowing world suggests infinite possibilities.
I don't get caught up in the size of the materials. When I carve with that mindset, the scenery of the uncarved, overflowing parts (the world) comes alive with such vibrancy. Fragments of that scenery became the titles of the works. Rather than a direct connection to the artwork, they are words that express the atmosphere surrounding the piece.
A hand holding flowers, a horned bird without a visible tail, a person with broken wings. The carved works are merely fragments of their respective landscapes, but I hope they will inspire you to envision the unseen scenery.
