Humanistic Images Filled with Wit and Humor
Born in Paris in 1928 to Russian parents, Elliott Erwitt began his career as a photographer in New York in 1949. At the young age of 25, he was recommended by Robert Capa, one of the founders of the "strongest photography collective," Magnum Photos, and has been active as a member ever since.
His photographs are characterized by a humanistic style rich in wit and humor. He is a master who has excelled in diverse fields, from journalistic essays to advertising photography, including his iconic images of dogs.
This marks the third Erwitt exhibition at the Leica Ginza Store. Fourteen works, primarily those not displayed in the previous two exhibitions, have been selected from the Elliott Erwitt world tour exhibition curated by Leica Camera's headquarters in Germany.
Beyond the monochrome, Erwitt's vibrant world unfolds. We invite you to savor this collection of works meticulously chosen by Leica.
