Capturing Humanity with Vivid Clarity

This exhibition is held to commemorate the release of Mari Natsuki's essay "We Were Born to Find Beauty" (Gentosha), which will be available nationwide on Thursday, April 18th. The exhibition features works by world-renowned photographer Michael Thompson, who captured Mari Natsuki, who turned 60 last year and has begun to shine anew. The works beautifully and sharply capture the powerful movements of Natsuki's body, honed through her long career in stage performance, and her expressions imbued with a new resolve, all while capturing her humanity.

This project began when Michael Thompson's agent visited Mari Natsuki's office in November 2011, and Natsuki casually remarked, "I would be delighted if Michael Thompson, whom I love most in the world, could photograph me someday." The shoot took place in July 2012 at Industria Superstudio in New York, bringing together a top-tier staff. Hair was handled by Serge Normant, who is highly trusted by major fashion magazines and numerous Hollywood celebrities, and styling was by Paul Cavaco, the creative director of "Allure" magazine. A making-of video showing the shooting process will also be screened.

In conjunction with the exhibition, a signing event will be held on Friday, April 19th, followed by a talk show with Mari Natsuki and a guest on Monday, April 22nd. This will be a valuable opportunity to directly experience the sensibilities of Mari Natsuki, a woman admired by women.
