Collaborations with Splendid Venues Like Temples and Kyoto Imperial Palace
During Kyoto's most beautiful spring season, "Kyotographie" fills the city with carefully selected photographs from around the globe, showcased in uniquely Kyoto locations such as temples, shrines, and traditional townhouses. This festival, held for the first time this year, aims to fuse Kyoto's rich history and culture with photographic art, while also deepening the appreciation of photography through its connection with Kyoto's traditional crafts.

This year's festival features works by a diverse range of artists, including Malick Sidibé from Mali, Shiro Takatani, known for his work with the artist group Dumb Type, and Swiss photographer Nicolas Bouvier, who captured the essence of the Showa era through his lens. Additionally, unique and valuable pieces collected by Christian Polak, a French businessman who researches Franco-Japanese diplomatic history, will also be exhibited.
The collaborations with venues such as the Institut Français Kansai, which introduces French culture, and Nijo Castle, offer a distinct experience from typical exhibitions. We hope you thoroughly enjoy exploring the photography exhibitions, a unique pleasure of Kyoto in spring.
