First Photography Book Also Released

Rich, born in Hiroshima in 1981, draws parallels between his creative process and a child's free imagination when seeing animals in clouds. He moved to the United States in 1999, studied under photographer Allen Weisman, and returned to Japan in 2006. He is currently based in Tokyo.

Feeling a sense of crisis from the overwhelming flood of unnecessary information that leaves us adrift and pushes aside our free imagination, Rich created 'Story1...' as a form of personal rehabilitation. He states that this work also saved him, and through it, he wishes for viewers to create their own unique narratives, thereby rediscovering feelings they may have forgotten as adults.

The exhibition showcases works that can be considered the culmination of the 'Story...' series, situated at the boundary between memory and imagination, imbued with a sense of nostalgia. Furthermore, coinciding with this solo exhibition, Rich's first photography book will be published. The entire 'Story...' series will also be available for purchase on 'H.P.F,MALL,' an e-commerce site focused on photography operated by hpgrp GALLERY TOKYO.

Rich's photographs invite viewers to envision the stories beyond what is depicted. His works, which greatly stimulate the imagination, encourage us to weave our own personal narratives.
