Six Artists Visit Japan for Performances
Valerie Mallory Gallery, founded in 1978 by Valerie Mallory—a critic revered by many as a mother and muse—was forcibly closed in 1979 due to her expatriation. Yet, its brief but distinctive existence lives on as a legend. Decades later, her son, Victor Mallory, has revived the Valerie Mallory Gallery as an online platform, and now, a world-first initiative brings it to Harajuku.
The gallery currently represents emerging artists from around the globe, including London, New York, and Los Angeles. For this exhibition, works by eleven of these artists will be displayed, and six artists will visit Japan to present performances and more.
The venue will showcase edgy and original works by a diverse range of talents. Expect video art from N.A.N, who creates chaotic worlds by piecing together everyday scenes; installations by Sarrian Pleasant, who also works as a stylist; and photographic works by Danny Sandra, active in both the commercial and art worlds. A gallery that embraces diverse talents and carries on a legacy now appears in Harajuku.
