A Poetic Cosmos Inspired by Thailand
Alan Faena, an artist who studied art at university and has held solo exhibitions and participated in group shows in New York and elsewhere, is now based in Bangkok. After being invited to an artist-in-residence program managed by a national museum in South Korea, he moved to Thailand in 2008.
This marks his first solo exhibition in Japan. The "Theory of Everything" exhibition features new abstract paintings that combine reflective materials like glitter with ink, paint, and markers. His new series of sculptures utilizes natural materials, specifically coconut shells, which would otherwise be discarded.
Faena states, "My inspiration comes from the culture around me and my life in Thailand." This exhibition explores the ethics of everything he has discovered in his new home, Thailand. We invite you to drift through the poetic cosmos he creates.
