The lifelike movement of each material
Born in 1980, Yuko Mori graduated from Tama Art University's Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Information Design, and completed her studies at Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Department of Intermedia Art. Her installations, created by combining scrap materials, disused tools, and machine parts, are characterized by the lifelike movements of each individual component.
She had a strong interest in music from the beginning and often incorporates musical instruments into her work. By combining countless motors, cords, instruments, and tools, which then produce sound and emit light, she creates unique visual spaces.
This exhibition focuses on "strings" and "ropes" that are closely related to our daily lives, such as threads, cords from home appliances, and the strings used to tie things together. Her unique question, "Might these invisible energies, similar to magnetism and gravity, create a deep, inseparable human connection through 'tying' or 'binding'?" has led to installations that seem to offer an answer.
"Orochi" is an exhibition created by confronting the specific materials of "strings" and "ropes" and reconstructing their power and meaning. We encourage you to experience the space and the energy emanating from it.
