Cultivate a Design Mindset Through Immersive Exhibits of Sound and Visuals
The educational program 'Design Ah' is produced by a stellar team, with graphic designer Taku Satoh serving as general director, interface designer and video director Yugo Nakamura overseeing visuals, and Keigo Oyamada handling the music. The program's concept is to foster 'design thinking' that will bring happiness to children's futures, aiming to cultivate essential life skills such as 'viewing from a design perspective,' 'developing judgment through design,' and 'refining design sensibilities.'
This 'Design Ah Exhibition,' themed around 'design mindset,' is being held at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, where Taku Satoh, along with designers Issey Miyake and Naoto Fukasawa, serve as directors. The exhibition features works not only by artists involved in the program but also by a diverse group of 11 artists, including Etsuko Yamada, the art director of the furoshiki specialty store 'Kyoto Wabunka Kenkyujo Musubi.'
The venue will feature recreations of popular segments from the program, alongside many new works created exclusively for this exhibition. For instance, in the 'Room of Sound, Objects, and Images,' curated by Nakamura and Oyamada, 'Design Ah' visuals and objects will fill the space accompanied by music. Other interactive exhibits include 'A Single Sheet of Paper,' an origami-themed experience, and 'Everyone's "Ah,"' where visitors can design the character 'Ah.' These exhibits are designed to be enjoyed by all ages, from children to adults.
Additionally, an opening talk featuring Satoh, Nakamura, and Oyamada will be held at Tokyo Midtown Hall on Saturday, February 16th, starting at 2:00 PM.
In an era where it is crucial not to remain passive but to actively make choices and deepen one's thinking, this exhibition aims to cultivate a design mindset while nurturing a rich sensibility. Visitors can enjoy the immersive works of sound and visuals, fostering that very spirit.
